The UNITED QUALITY MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE
Uniting People - Process - Performance SkillsĀ
About the Institute

HISTORY

The United Quality Management Institute (UQMI) was founded on January 1, 2010.  It was an evolution of work that arose from the merging of several quality related organizations.  Those include the Lean Manufacturing Consortium (LMC) and the International Lean Association (ILA).  These organizations, combined with several smaller groups to form what is now known as the UQMI.  This is a peer based organization, that strives to ensure that those students who enroll and instructors who participate, will become well rounded in their skills to promote quality of product and service to the business and academic world.  The philosophy of this organization is founded upon the 3P Training Matrix: A Balanced Approach to Successful Continuous Improvement, developed by Ron Fite.  This approach requires a balanced mixture of interpersonal skill training, combined with technical skills that add standardized work practices and performance improvement techniques based upon the operational level of those people within an organization.

OUR VISION:

Is to provide our member students with the opportunity to improve their continuous improvement skills through education, training and application of established and proven quality techniques while earning recognized certification in each of these disciplines.

OUR GOAL:

To be a resource to those individuals desiring to improve their value to the workplace and to enhance the employability and marketability of those member students that are unemployed or underemployed.

HOW WE WILL ACCOMPLISH OUR GOALS:

The UQMI will provide learning and certification opportunities through a variety of mechanisms including the use of On-line, Instructor Led and self-study resources.  Individuals will be encouraged to form Local Chapters or Company Chapters as a means of supporting each other in study groups.  Instructors and/or Consultants will also be encouraged to participate in order to provide ILC (Instructor Led Courses) in a wide variety of locations.

HOW WE WILL ENSURE QUALITY EDUCATION:

Instructors and Consultants will be permitted to submit their own training materials for review to ensure that they meet the quality and expectations of our organization.  In addition, we will offer certification and review for those interested in becoming a Certified Instructor in any of the quality disciplines.
